New Hauppauge HD PVR has now arrived

My new Hauppauge HD PVR arrived this morning by DHL after ordering it from PC World on Saturday, impressive as the shipping was free. Here are some photos of the device straight out of the box.

Hauppauge HD PVR Box

I was a bit concerned by some dents on the box as you can see on the lower left of the box. I really dont like having electronic good shipped as they are easily damaged but thankfully it was only the external layer that had dents on it.

Inside the Hauppauge HD PVR Box

The HD PVR box contents are neatly packed.

HD PVR Cables

Free component video cable included. I havent measured the length of the cable but its approx 10ft.

Front view of the HD PVR

The front view of the PVR shows S-Video connector and the standard Composite cable connector. Also, an infra-red port for the remote control.

Back view of the HD PVR

The back ports include connection for Component (Y, Pr, Pb) high-definition video input & output. Optical in & out and a USB port. The blaster connector (which I dont need) is used for switching channels on a cable box set.

I have already hooked up the PVR to the Xbox and laptop and it was very simple, actually easier than the Dazzle Connector that I’ve tried earlier.

Was it worth the £179 from PC World? That will depend on how much I actually use it but I do have a lot of plans for it.

    1. Woo, nice. So that’s two, no three online friends who have (or will have. Dave will have his soon) these devices. I’ll see my name in a Youtube video yet! (Well, ok, I spotted my name in a Sasben video when I logged into PSN while he was playing but that doesn’t count!)

I have one on my Amazon wishlist. You never know. Someone might win the lottery and decide to buy me one. (oh look, pigs are flying!)

They are becoming popular for the gamers. The quality in the videos is really amazing. I’ve had some glitches with the video output so I’ll do a blog post about it.

I’m making my first montage but its taking more work than I expected. Next time we’re on together I’ll get it recorded and uploaded 🙂
